Flower Delivery to Bohortha with Clare Florist
Bohortha is one of the southernmost villages in England. This small village is located in the south part of Cornwall. It can be found on the east part of the famous Roseland Peninsula, just two miles south of the village of Portscatho.
Bohortha is part of the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural beauty, which is why many people visit this village throughout the year (especially during the summer period). Because of its specific position, this area was inhabited since ancient times. It was part of the Roman empire and historians believe that it was settled by the English in the beginning of the 10th century. Domesday Book has no record of this village, but the area around it including the villages of Ruan Lanihome and Veryan are described in details. Most of the people who lived there were farmers and fishermen. The history of this place was not very turbulent and people here obviously lived calm and relaxing lives. What is worth mentioning is that Bohortha was known as St. Anthony village in the past. Bohortha is a name that people started to use in the 20th century. This was the name of one of the three farmsteads that were once part of this village. These farmsteads ceased to exist in the late 1970s.
This village was one of the first in this region that had a pub and a public school. It was used as a station for American soldiers during the Second World War.
