Flower Delivery to Fenwick with Clare Florist

Fenwick is a village located in East Ayrshire , north east of Kilmarnock. Arguably, its claim to fame was the Fenwich Weavers' Society, which is the first co-operative society in the world and was formed in 1761.

It is the terminus of the M77 after it was extended. The M77 opened on April 2005.

THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT FENWICK

There are two main areas of Fenwick: High Fenwick and Laigh Fenwick.

Fenwich Parish traces its history back to 1643.

John Fulton Hall – an old style traditional public hall – is located here, right next to the Fenwick Medical Practice and the Mirage Hair Salon. It is used by many community organisations, including the community council, pipe band and local indoor bowls group. Weddings, celebrations, birthday parties and meetings can also be held here.

In case decorations are needed, you can always send flowers to Fenwick to adorn the hall, especially when celebrating a wedding or birthday.

Fenwick Fine Foods now occupies the former location of the Post Office, which has moved closer to the main hub of the village.

Kings Arms is a pub that dates back to the 18th century. It was once a busy staging post on the route from South Glasgow. Here, travellers were offered stabling and refreshment for their long journey to Ayr or beyond.

Now, the Kings Arms is a traditional Scottish pub that serves fine beers and wines, as well as home-made traditional food.

Jessie's Store is the longest-running single-owner private establishment in the village.

McFaddens Car Garage is placed next to the former site of the Church of Scotland Nursing Home, Dunselma.

ATTRACTIONS

Weavers' Cottages – a row of Grade B listed houses that look the same as they did during the 18th century. However, the original thatched roofs have been changed with slate tiles. One of the houses has a second floor added to it.

The Secession Church – formed in 1820 with many Weavers as members.

William Guthrie's House – home of the highly regarded preacher who people travelled to hear preach.

John Fulton's House – home of the young shoemaker who became a highly regarded member of the astronomical community in Scotland. The Orrery – working model of the Sun and Planets – he made can be seen at the Kelvingrove Museum in Glasgow.

Fenwick Church – has seen lots of historical occasions, including the signing of the charter on 14 March 1761 by nine weavers and seven apprentices for the regulation of prices they paid for yard and the prices they would charge for completed cloth.
