Flower Delivery to Stockbridge Village with Clare Florist
When people hear the words “Stockbridge Village”, they often picture a place that has high unemployment rates and has suffered from various crimes. But, if you feel the same way, take note that this is no longer the case! Stockbridge Village might have had a rough past, but it has overcome its difficult beginnings and has steadily progressed over the years.
Stockbridge Village started out as Cantril Farm, which was developed in the 1960s. Built on a piece of land that was purchased by Liverpool Council, Cantril Farm was developed to accommodate the people who were rehoused from inner-city Liverpool. By the time people started occupying the estate, it still lacked basic amenities like a transport system, healthcare facilities, and shops. However, according to early residents, these didn't really stop them from enjoying their new homes since they made do with what they had. They also didn't have to suffer for long since the estate developed over time — a subway was built, mobile shops turned into permanent stores, and churches and schools were constructed.
The decline in the estate, which was caused by several factors, started in the 1970s. By 1982, the area had an unemployment rate of almost 50 percent among males and 80 percent among young people. Arson, burglary, car theft, and other kinds of theft became rampant, and Cantril Farm's reputation became so poor that virtually no one wanted to live in it.
All of these started to change, though, when ownership of the estate was transferred to the Stockbridge Village Trust (which is now called Villages Housing). The change in the area happened slowly and required millions of pounds, thousands of manpower hours, and decades of improvement, but the effort was worth it since the estate has been transformed into a flourishing community.
Stockbridge Village is now a vibrant place that offers enjoyable activities both for children and older people. It has its own leisure centre (the Stockbridge Village Neighbourhood Centre) as well as a modern shopping area. It also has various clubs for ramblers, Tai Kwando, and junior football.
If you decide to visit Stockbridge Village, you can explore exciting attractions in and around the area. You can head off to the Knowsley Safari Park, which has a bug house, a sea lion show, and a safari drive. You can also check out Stadt Moers Park and Court Hey Park, which both have wildflower habitats and showcase beautiful Stockbridge Village flowers during springtime. They also have cycleways and footpaths, so you can either ride your bikes with your family or go for a gentle stroll while you enjoy the beautiful scenery.
