Flower Delivery to King's Road by Clare Florist
King's Road is a very well known street in West London, stretching for two miles and cutting through the Royal Borough of Chelsea and Kensington and Fulham. In Chelsea , where it also Chelsea's High Street it stretches from Sloane Square, runs through Moore Park estate, crosses Stanley Bridge and ends at the junction with Waterford Road in Fulham. Here it becomes New King's Road, running on to Putney Bridge. It is nicknamed The KR and was renowned as a focal area in the 1960's and is strongly associated with 1960's fashion and the designers Vivienne Westwood and Mary Quant. It was a focal point for the hippie and punk areas of the 1960's and 1970's but today it is a gentrified area and is one of London's most fashionable streets.
It began life as a private road used by Charles II to travel to Kew, hence the name. Kew is of course famous for Kew Palace and the Royal Botanic Gardens and along Kings Road flowers are a very popular commodity with plenty of great florists supplying beautiful arrangements. The King's road stayed as a private road until 1830 and famous residents of the area include Thomas Arne, Ellen Terry and Peter Ustinov.
The King's Road is connected by various means of public transport but has in fact poor Underground links. The tube stations Sloane Square and Fulham Broadway operate from the West End. The bus routes 11 and 22 run the whole way down the King's Road, 22 running from Sloane Square to the end of the New King's Road in Fulham. There are numerous other bus routes but none of these run the full length of the road, turning off at various junctions along the road. The west end of the road is close to the Imperial Wharf rail station on the London Overground and connects to Willesden Junction and Clapham Junction. There are also rail services to Milton Keynes and East Croydon.
