Flower Delivery to Moray: A Coastal Destination in Scotland
Lying on the coastline of the Moray Firth, Moray is blessed with such stunning scenery: a view of mountains from the coast.
A visit to this area of Scotland wouldn’t be complete without a trip to the Speyside whisky distilleries – a tour that lovers of the drink will surely appreciate. There are lots of distilleries located in Scotland alone but they are quite numerous in Speyside.
Towns and Villages
Cullen, named after a traditional soup made from milk, potato, onion, and smoked haddock, is a beautiful seaside town. It has a stunning beach, a number of antique shops, a great coastal path, and a golf course. Photogenic houses are also a sight to behold in this town, a theme that runs through other Moray towns such as Buckie, Findochty, and Portknockie.
Buckie is another must-visit town on the Moray coast. It was once a thriving fishing and shipbuilding port, but is now a small fishing town with beautiful scenery and interesting wildlife. Long walks can be taken along the coast with a sight or two of wildlife including dolphins, otters, and ospreys.
Two kilometres west of Buckie is the village of Portgordon, a good place to visit if you want to see seals. The village was founded in 1797 by the 4th Duke of Gordon with the harbour being the most important element he had constructed.
Travelling another four miles west takes you to Spey Bay, a small settlement on the mouth of the River Spey. Salmon fishing used to be a popular activity in town, but the fishing village is no longer operational. The Tugnet icehouse, however, is open to tourists. Varied wildlife can also be observed here including dolphins, ospreys, grey seals, harbour seals, otters, wildfowl, and waders.
A stopover in Lossiemouth, which is about 16.7 miles away from Spey Bay, can also be done. The town has a long history, dating back to the Roman times. A RAF station is located here, Plus, a number of birds, including curlew, mallard, and grey herons, feed under the bridge.
Going a bit further from Lossiemouth takes you to the coastal towns of Hopeman and Burghead, the latter with a promontory offering a great viewpoint.
The coastal village of Findhorn has a beach and a couple of places to get some food and drink.
The Speyside Way
While you can see some Moray flowers when looking towards the coast, much more flowers in Moray can be seen when walking the Speyside Way, a 65-mile walk that starts in Buckie and ends in Aviemore.
The path takes you from the coast to the Highlands. Buckie is a coastal town and Aviemore is a town in the Cairngorns National park in the Scottish Highlands.
