Flower Delivery to Hazlerigg in Tyne and Wear
Less than 30 minutes away by private vehicle from the city of Newcastle Upon Tyne is the village – as well as civil parish – of Hazlerigg. The village sits on the A1 road, the 410-mile road connecting London with Edinburgh in Scotland. Travelling the route takes you through various destinations, such as Welwyn Garden City, Peterborough, Doncaster, Leeds, Durham, Alnwick, Newcastle Upon Tyne, and Berwick-upon-Tweed.
History
Hazlerigg is split by the A1 making each side part of a separate district. The Newcastle side is administered by a parish council while the one on North Tyneside is unparished.
Back in the day, from 1892 to 1964, the village was the site of a colliery. The export of coal brought good fortune to Hazlerigg resulting in the building of miner’s houses. Eventually, that settlement developed the Hazlerigg seen today. The colliery still exists in the west side of the village but it’s now covered by trees.
Another coal mine called the Havannah Drift Mine was opened to the west of Hazlerigg and about a mile away. The mine opened in 1950 but concerns about mining subsidence affecting the runway of Newcastle Airport resulted in its closure in 1977. A number of the buildings used now form part of a plastics factory while a huge portion of the surrounding land is now the Havannah Nature Reserve.
Attractions
Hazlerigg is about 15 to 30 minutes away from Newcastle Upon Tyne, which in itself has almost everything you could want in a holiday destination. Walking enthusiasts will be pleased to know that the city offers a feast for the eyes, from old architecture to stunning views.
Northumberland Street has more than 50 retailers which make it an ideal place to hunt for souvenirs and other items. Newcastle is rich in history and a number of attractions can be found across the city centre.
Outdoors is also the theme when exploring near or around Hazlerigg, particularly the Havannah Nature Reserve, which is comprised of meadows, marshland, ponds, and woodlands. It’s a good place to start looking for Hazlerigg flowers to add colour to snapshots. Other than flowers in Hazlerigg, you can also find different broadlead and coniferous trees in Havannah – trees that serve as habitats for red squirrels.
If you’re looking for a more challenging walk, a good start would be the Hadrian’s Wall Path which can take you to the famous structure with Newcastle as your starting point. The path takes you through the most beautiful parts of England: the beautiful city of Newcastle, rugged moorland, and rolling fields. Highlights also include seeing Roman forts, well preserved Roman masonry and earthworks, and the wildlife of the Solway salt marshes. The trail is 84 miles long and may take six or seven days to complete depending on a number of factors, including sightseeing activities and fitness levels.
