HISTORY
Almondbury was an important Tudor settlement. During the Medieval Era, the town was granted a market – nearby Huddersfield didn't get one until 1671.
A map from 1634 showed several timber-framed structures on either side of what is now Westgate. Beyond these buildings were what are assumed to be gardens. Who knows? Maybe they featured a couple of Almondbury flowers in those green spaces.

His initials, as well as that of his wife Mary, can be seen on the lintel over the door.
